Preparing Your AI Profile
When you set up Pane, your AI partner starts learning who you are. The more context you give it upfront, the better it works from day one.
During onboarding, you'll see three options for seeding your agent's knowledge. Upload Documents is the most powerful — it lets you drop in files that describe you, and your AI builds its profile from them.
What should I upload?
The upload screen accepts .txt and .md files.
Your AI uses these to build system files — a profile of who you are, how you work, and what you care about. Think of it as giving your AI partner a proper introduction instead of starting from scratch.
What to include
- Who you are — name, location, what you do for work, your role
- Projects & work — what you're currently working on, key goals, deadlines
- Communication style — do you prefer concise or detailed? Formal or casual? Do you want opinions or just facts?
- Philosophy & values — what drives your decisions? Any guiding principles?
- Skills & experience — professional background, technical skills, creative abilities
- Hobbies & interests — what you do outside work
- Goals — short-term and long-term, personal and professional
- Tools & workflows — what apps/tools you use daily, how you like to organize work
Already using AI?
If you already use ChatGPT, Claude, or another AI, you can have it interview you and compile the results. Copy this prompt, paste it into your current AI, and have a 10-minute conversation:
Interview me to build a comprehensive profile document. Ask me about:
- Who I am and what I do
- My current projects and goals
- How I like to communicate
- My values and philosophy
- My professional background and skills
- My hobbies and interests
- My preferred tools and workflows
Ask one topic at a time. When we're done, compile everything into a single organized document I can save as a .md file. Save the result as a .md file and upload it to Pane.
New to AI?
If you don't regularly use AI, just write it down. Here's a simple template you can copy — fill in as much or as little as you want. Even a few sentences in each section gives your AI a huge head start.
